Stones of Time: The Shenanigans Series (Parent Review)

Stones of Time: The Shenanigans Series, Book Two

Stones of Time: The Shenanigans Series, Book Two by Andreas Oertel

My rating: 3 of 5 stars

(Warning: Ending spoiler.)

Stones of Time is a time-travel middle grade adventure that combines historical fact with fantasy. Its characters enjoy the natural banter of siblings and friends amidst a plot of mystery and action as they work collectively toward a crucial end goal: getting back home.

Although I found the theme of time travel and the historical background of Cree culture informative and interesting, I felt that the plot lagged, as it took place almost entirely in one main setting. Albeit, the setting does jump back in time, which is neat.

Stones of Time is essentially a story of three kids who seem to bite off more than they can chew, yet manage to return home stronger and wiser than when they first embarked on their adventure.

As for sensitive content, this book is very clean. I would gladly let my 9 and 11 year old read this creative adventure novel.
