Creative Parenting: FREE Cemetery Scavenger Hunt

I took the kids to our local cemetery today for a scavenger hunt. It’s a bit out of the ordinary, but we had a ton of fun!

Highlight of the Hunt

Before you run away to print off your own copy of this awesome graveyard-themed scavenger hunt, let me share one highlight of our hunt today:

One of the items on our scavenger hunt was to find a tombstone that only had the initials of the deceased engraved on the stone. After searching and searching, none of the kids could find a tombstone with only initials on it. (I guess our cemetery isn’t old enough.) But my middle child just wouldn’t quit. He was determined to check every box on the list!

Finally, I called out: “Thales, we’re going home now! Come on!”

Not two seconds later, he started shrieking. “Yes! I found one! I found one! I! D! A! Yes!”

So, Tyson and Julie sprinted over to where Thales was standing over an old grave. I could see there was a mini-discussion happening, but they were too far away for me to hear.

Then, Tyson burst out laughing and yelled, “Thales, those aren’t initials – her name was Ida!”
